Coralville company to raise funds for debilitating disease through football parking sales
CORALVILLE, IOWA - September 15, 2009
On Sept. 19, the Iowa Hawkeyes will take on Arizona State at Kinnick Stadium, giving Drs. Darlene and James McCord an opportunity to take on the Buruli ulcer, a debilitating worldwide disease.
The McCords, founders of Pinnaclife, Inc. and McCord Research, will raise awareness and funds for the Buruli ulcer by renting parking spaces to avid Hawkeye fans this Saturday. Parking is available for a donation of $20 at the Pinnaclife corporate office located at 59 Second Street in Coralville, just minutes away from the stadium.
The McCords are heavily vested in the research and treatment of the Buruli ulcer, a disease that can be disabling and fatal to its victims. Through the McCord Research Foundation and the Buruli Ulcer Project, the McCords have worked actively in Africa to help patients stricken with the disease, 70 percent of whom are under the age of 15. The disease is easily and inexpensively treated if diagnosed in its early stages.
